UHV ends weekend strong after three losses

ALEXANDRIA, LA. - UHV softball ended its weekend in Louisiana strong after losing three straight games Friday and Saturday.

The Jaguars defeated Texas College 15-0 on Sunday in Alexandria, La.

Marley Moehrig, a senior from Victoria, and senior Ashley Winegeart each hit home runs in the shutout.

In the first game, UHV fell 5-2 to St. Gregory's University on Friday. Junior Rachel Laird hit twice out of four at-bats and scored twice. Shelby Smith and Alex Holland each had an RBI.

In the first game against LSU-Alexandria, UHV lost 10-2. Smith had an RBI double play.

LSUA won the second game 4-1. Holland had one RBI.

The Jaguars will play Texas Southern in a doubleheader at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex on Thursday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
