Environmental scientist Wilma Subra will speak in Yorktown about how commercial waste disposal facilities are operated, as well as their effects on the environment and human health.

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on March 6 at the Yorktown Public Library.

The presentation will address two commercial waste facilities proposed in DeWitt County near Nordheim, Subra said.

Subra, who is a 1999 MacArthur Fellow, spoke in Nordheim in January about the facilities application to the Railroad Commission of Texas. Changes to the application will be discussed at the meeting in Yorktown, she said.
