Editor, the Advocate:
When Don Pozzi came into the office of Victoria County judge, I was the city manager of Victoria. After my first meeting with the new judge, I recall feeling confident that the voters had elected the right person for the job. First impressions are usually correct, and my impression of Don Pozzi was that he was honest, spoke straightforward, stood behind his word, cared about people and, most importantly, had the best interests of the citizens of Victoria foremost in his heart and in his actions. I still have that same impression of him, strengthened many times by his leadership and dedicated experience.
Judge Pozzi is a fiscally conservative leader, something that our community has demanded of its political leaders. He works well with the county commissioners and the other elected and appointed department heads in our county government, at the lowest practical tax rate. He works cooperatively with leaders of other entities such as Victoria College, UHV, Victoria Barge Canal, VISD, city of Victoria, etc. Our county government is operating effectively right now. I do not want to change a good thing.
I urge the voters to vote "yes" for Don Pozzi, to retain his experienced leadership.
