Editor, the Advocate:
What is marriage? Governments are trying to redefine marriage. But that is impossible. In the first chapter of Genesis, we read: "In the beginning, God made them male and female; He blessed them and told them to be fertile, multiply and fill the earth and subdue it."
In the second account of the creation in Genesis, He created Eve.
That is why man shall cling to his wife, and the two shall become one.
God instituted marriage. Marriage came before any government existed, and it can't change it. They might just as well suspend the law of gravity.
In Matthew, we read that Jesus raised marriage to a sacrament. Jesus said: "In the beginning, God made them male and female, in marriage, the two become one flesh, and no human being can separate." Marriage is for the procreation and education of offspring.
What is a family? It is a marriage between one man and one woman for companionship and the procreation and education of children. Two men or two women cannot be a family; it is impossible. They cannot have children unless they get them from their original parents. The family is the original and basic cell of society. It must be protected, or the society will fall.
We saw in Sodom and Gomorrah that their societies had become so corrupt that God had to destroy it. Every society that has tried to redefine marriage has destroyed itself or been destroyed by God. If you want to measure the health of a society, see how well the family is treated.
This is the 27th year in Victoria that we have had the Candlelight March for Life. Come stand up for all life, especially for the family and the unborn. The march will begin downtown at DeLeon Plaza at 7 p.m. Jan. 23, a Thursday night. Candles will be provided. If you have never been before, this is your opportunity to stand up and be counted.
