Pioneer Natural Resources received the Employer Award of Excellence for the Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent area at the Texas Workforce Commission's Texas Workforce Conference, which spanned Dec. 4-6 in San Antonio.
The award honors employers who are actively involved with their local workforce board and have made a positive impact on employers, workers and the community.
Pioneer has made significant capital investments in South Texas, including a plant in Cuero and a complex in Victoria. Each facility cost about $18 million to build.
As a member of the Eagle Ford Shale Consortium, Pioneer also works with Workforce Solutions to advance the region's employment and training capacity.
"The local workforce boards help build a stronger workforce in the Lone Star State by connecting employers, educational institutions and economic development entities," Andres Alcantar, chairman of the Texas Workforce Commission, said. "I congratulate Pioneer Natural Resources and Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent for partnering to benefit their communities, their workers and the state of Texas."
Workforce Solutions of the Golden Crescent was recognized for outstanding board performance and received a $15,000 performance incentive award for Choices Employment and first-place recognition for Workforce Investment Act exemplary performance.
The performance incentive awards recognize boards that display increased accountability and improved efficiencies. Monetary awards for achievement will be used to enhance workforce service programs during the next year.
