No one was injured early Wednesday morning as fire damaged a Victoria home at 1107 Convent St.
The Victoria Fire Department responded to the fire call at 1:34 a.m., said Battalion Chief Roger Hempel.
"There were heavy flames showing from the rear of the house," he said. "No one was in the home. The resident was at work."
The fire was put out within about five minutes, and the house suffered about $2,000 in damage, Hempel said.
Victoria Fire Marshal Thomas Legler said the damage was confined to the porch and attic space. There was minimal damage in the living space.
Legler said Madlyn Hilton is the homeowner and resident.
The Crossroads Chapter of the American Red Cross has assisted Hilton with lodging for three nights, said Steve Meissner, regional disaster officer.
Firefighters were on scene until about 3 a.m.
"I am working through a couple of different possible causes and will hopefully narrow it down to the actual origin and cause," Legler said.
