Take a trip to the Sichuan Province of China with the newest restaurant in Victoria.

Sichuan Garden, 2003 E. Red River St., which opened for business Jan. 8, offers a few new things to area diners.

"We don't have a buffet, and we deliver," said Xiaoxing He, a nephew of the owners.

Opening the restaurant was a longtime dream of He's aunt, Cindy He. She wanted to run a restaurant for a while, he said.

Cindy He and her husband, Andy Sun, moved from China to Yoakum in 2006. They later moved to Victoria and saved enough money to make her dream come true, Xiaoxing He said.

"The food is fresh," he said. Because the Sichuan Province is known for spicy food, almost everything is spicy. "But we can make it less spicy."

Customers can dine in, call in their order or put in orders via the Internet.

The restaurant is owned by Cindy He and Andy Sun. Their daughter, Jie Kong, and Xiaoxing He help run the restaurant.

Sichuan Garden is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. For more information, call 361-573-6600 or visit
