Learn how to winter-prune rose bushes to get the maximum color for spring.
Victoria's rose experts and gardeners from the parks and recreation department will host two workshops Wednesday with tips and techniques on rose-pruning methods plus hands-on demonstrations with the Hybrid tea, Grandiflora, climbing and Floribunda roses.
The workshops are set for 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the Victoria Memorial Rose Garden in Riverside Park, 476 McCright Drive.
Participants should bring their own bypass hand pruner, gloves and a drink. Long-sleeve clothing should be worn to protect from thorns.
The garden is wheelchair accessible.
In the event of extreme weather conditions, the workshop will be rescheduled for a later date.
Anyone interested who cannot attend the workshop is welcome to drop by the Rose Garden weekday mornings through Feb. 14 for a one-on-one lesson.
