Sponsorships are still available for the Victoria Empty Bowls event Feb. 9 in the Victoria College Student Center and Fine Arts Building.
The proceeds from each sale made throughout the day provide critically-needed financial assistance to agencies fighting hunger in the Crossroads area.
Over the past nine years, this project has raised more than $90,000 to benefit the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, Christ's Kitchen, Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry, Victoria County Senior Citizen Center and the Victoria College Visual Art Scholarship.
Each year, the Victoria Empty Bowls project has inspired area potters and art students to make bowls to be sold and filled with the soup creations of local chefs and restaurateurs.
"This year marks the 10th anniversary of the local event, and we are working hard to make it bigger and better than ever," said Sherri Pall, Empty Bowls Event co-chairwoman. "Local artisans have already been busy making bowls to prepare for Victoria's Empty Bowls. But, we need the community's assistance to ensure the continued success of the event. All of the proceeds remain in the Victoria community."
"Victoria Empty Bowls sponsors make this experience possible each year and are the heart and soul of its continued success," said Debra Chronister, Empty Bowls event co-chairwoman. "To recognize their generosity, sponsors' names will be printed on the placemats used during the event and will also be included in other advertising."
Sponsorship levels are $5,000, $2,500, $1,000, $500 and $250.
Those contributing $1,000 or more will receive a commemorative bowl handcrafted by Chronister and four VIP tickets to Steven Branfman's gallery opening from 6-8 p.m Feb. 8 in the VC Fine Arts Building. Contributions should be made payable to Victoria Empty Bowls and mailed to: Jennifer Yancey, Victoria College, 2200 E. Red River, Victoria, TX 77901.
