A motorcyclist was injured Monday afternoon when he hit a culvert and landed in a barbed wire fence about 4 miles outside of Inez.

Ronald Zandonatti, 65, of Victoria, was flown by a Citizens Medical Center helicopter to Christus Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi.

Zandonatti was traveling east on Farm-to-Market Road 444 on a black Yamaha 2009 at about 3 p.m. Monday.

Zandonatti was traveling at an unsafe speed while navigating a curve on the road. He hit a culvert and landed in a barbed wire fence, said Department of Public Safety Trooper Gerald Bryant.

The recommended speed limit for the curve is 50 mph. The speed limit is 70 mph for FM 444.

Zandonatti's condition was unknown as of Monday night.

Trooper Mario Gonzalez is investigating.
