A Victoria woman was in intensive care in a Corpus Christi hospital Monday after she fell from a utility terrain vehicle that was negotiating a curve Sunday night.

Mary Bennet Edwards, 30, was flown by helicopter to Christus Spohn Hospital. She was in critical condition Monday night, said hospital spokesman Steven Alford.

A UTV is like an all-terrain vehicle, but it has four seats. Edwards suffered injuries to her head, said Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor.

Edwards fell out of the UTV at a ranch in the McFaddin area about 7:10 p.m. Sunday. The UTV did not hit any vehicles or objects, he said.

It is unclear whether the UTV had seatbelts or how fast it was traveling.

No citations were issued, O'Connor said.
