Fifth-grade students will visit the VISD Fine Arts Center on Wednesday to learn about their coming transition into middle school.

At the Fifth Grade Transition Camp, counselors and middle school students will offer advice on what electives incoming sixth-graders may want to take.

"These students are going to be facing choices that they haven't had before," said Diane Boyett, Victoria school district communications director. "We want them to be able to select something that will have meaning to them."

East Learning Community campuses - including Chandler, DeLeon, Guadalupe, Rowland, Dudley, Torres, O'Connor, William Wood and Smith - will be at the center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

West Learning Community campuses - including Mission Valley, Schorlemmer, Shields, Vickers, Aloe, F.W. Gross, Hopkins and Crain - will attend the camp from 12:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
