Want to help out your community while having food and fun? Well, you definitely can at Taste of Goliad.

The Astron Club is hosting its annual Taste of Goliad from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Goliad Memorial Auditorium.

The event offers dishes prepared by members of the club as well as from chefs from area restaurants, caterers and organizations.

Tickets for adults are $12 each, and children are $5.

Proceeds benefit the Golden Crescent Habitat for Humanity-Goliad Build, Goliad County Library, Goliad High School Technology and other organizations.

Blue Quail will make its bleu cheese bacon potato soup, Texas Southwind Vineyard & Winery will have samples of local wines, and Devereux Gardens will have its taco soup, said Barbara Smith, chair of the Astron Club's Ways and Means committee.

Foods range from main dishes to appetizers to side dishes and desserts, Smith said.

For more information or to buy tickets, call Alpha Hunt at 361-645-8207 or Barbara Smith at 361-645-5146. Tickets can also be purchased at the Goliad Chamber of Commerce and Ag-Med Supply.
