Temperatures in Victoria are expected to dip below freezing Tuesday, but meteorologists are not expecting snow for the area.

Tawnya Evans, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Corpus Christi, said Victoria has a 30 percent chance of rain in the morning, and by the afternoon, there could be a mix of sleet.

As temperatures drop, Tuesday evening could bring a brief period of freezing rain, but chances of rain diminish as the day goes on, she said.

Tuesday's high temperature is forecast to be in the upper 30s with a low in the mid 20s, Evans said.

Tuesday's record low was set in 1948 with 23 degrees. The record high was set in 1911 at 83 degrees.

Wednesday's record low was set in 1951 at 21 degrees, and the record high was recorded in 1917 at 87 degrees.
