State of the Union:Obama vows to flex presidential powers in speech

Republicans:Republicans unimpressed with Obama's speech

Analysis: Obama's agenda more bite-sized than bold

President Barack Obama wants 2014 to be a year of action. The president delivered his annual State of the Union address Tuesday evening, saying "that's what most Americans want - for all of us in this chamber to focus on their lives, their hopes, their aspirations."

Crossroads residents shared their views about how the country and the president are doing.

"I feel there could be more accountability for the rich and the decisions they make. When you're doing something that influences other lives, then there has to be accountability."

Joel Smith

"We impeached Nixon for wire tapping a hotel, yet our current president wire tapped the entire county, and he's still in office. Are we afraid to impeach a black guy?"

"One person can't change anything, so why fight it? I just go with the flow to avoid conflict and live in peace."

Nela Gonzalez

"I think America is doing better than it was, but the Democrats and Republicans are jerks because they can't get along. They're supposed to be there for the people, not Obama. They need to work as a team."

Elaine Kubicek

"I think he (the president) made a mistake (with the Affordable Care Act) and tried too early to take on a huge issue, and it fell through the cracks. Now, those of us who work are paying higher deductibles and higher premiums."
