Farmers from across the state will flock Friday toward the coast.

The two-day Texas Farmers Union's 112th annual state convention will meet at the Holiday Inn, 707 N. Shoreline Blvd., in downtown Corpus Christi, with the opening session at 1 p.m. Friday, and will include committee reports and a nomination of officers.

"We will have excellent speakers and interesting programs during the convention," Wes Sims, Texas Farmers Union president, said. Presentations will provide information about important agriculture, rural and educational issues.

The featured speaker for Saturday's banquet is Roger Johnson, National Farmers Union president, and an auction to benefit the Farmers Union Charitable Fund will conclude the convention.
