Oil-field waste disposal operations and their impact on the area will be the topic of a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in Nordheim.
The gathering will be at the Park Lounge in Jubilee Park on Broadway Street.
Wilma Subra, chemist and consultant on toxic chemicals and oil-field waste materials, will discuss waste disposal operations and their impact on air, water, soil and human health for those living near them.
This presentation is sponsored by a group of interested residents in the Nordheim area, including land owners Therese Hernandez, Marvin Pilsner and Buddy and Ruth Newman, who are also mineral rights owners.
In 1981, Subra started Subra Co. a chemistry lab and environmental consulting firm in New Iberia, La. Subra provides technical assistance to people across the United States and some foreign countries concerned with their environment by combining technical research and evaluation. This information is then presented to community members so that strategies may be developed to address their local struggles.
