Calhoun County Airport is letting the public decide the winners of its fifth annual Calhoun Air Center Aviation Art Contest.
Students from Calhoun County submitted more than 275 entries this year. The theme was Flying Saves Lives, said Jasmine Gordon, contest coordinator with the airport.
This is the first time the public has been able to vote on the winners. They will select the winners in the five age groups.
The age groups are senior category, ages 15-18; intermediate category, ages 11-14; and junior category, ages 7-10.
The contest is designed to educate youth about the multiple avenues in aviation through art.
The deadline to vote is noon Wednesday.
The winners of the Texas Department of Transportation International Aviation Art Contest will be announced by March. Winning contestants along with their family and teacher are invited to the agency's Texas Aviation banquet April 10 in Dallas.
Winners will advance to the national competition.
