If you've ever wondered what a normal car would look like on a dirt track, you'll have an opportunity to see Saturday night.

The South Texas Street Stock Shootout comes to Shady Oaks Speedway in Goliad for a night full of racing. The cars aren't the stock cars seen in NASCAR. Rather, they're normal cars that used to be street legal but no longer are because of modifications.

"It does look like a regular car," said Rosemary Stacy, who co-owns Shady Oaks Speedway with her husband, Bobby, and son, Keith. "They've just been modified."

Racing begins at 7 p.m., and gates open at 5 p.m. Along with street stock racing, there will be three other classifications racing. Those are limited modifieds, modified and pure stock.

Stacy said there will be more than 25 drivers racing in Saturday night's races.

Shady Oaks Speedway is one of three tracks to host the South Texas Street Stock Shootout races but is also the host of different types of racing on the weekends.

"We normally race every other Saturday from March to October," Stacy said. "We hold different events throughout the year."

One of those events includes a Halloween special that has drivers line up around the track, and kids can trick-or-treat with all of the drivers.

"We try to gear everything to families," Stacy said. "We keep our prices low and affordable for the family to come out and have a fun Saturday night. We have good, clean racing, and the guys really get out there and put on a good show."

Tickets for Saturday night's races are $10 for adults, $5 for kids (ages 6-12), $8 for seniors (age 55 and above) and kids under 5 years old get in free.
