A family on East Commercial Street will soon be back home after their house caught fire Friday night.
The Victoria Fire Department was called to the house fire about 10:30 p.m. Friday. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Victoria Fire Marshal Tom Legler said.
Alice Barients, who was one of the occupants in the home, said she was told by her son-in-law that an area in the back of the house was on fire. The home had some fire and smoke damage but is still livable.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family with shelter and will be with family members when they return home to help with recovery and make repairs, said Barbara Neville, disaster program manager with the American Red Cross.
