Citizens should investigate rental rates in area

The rent situation in Victoria has been a problem for some time.
We do not need the city to act or have any more government intervention.
What we do need is a citizens committee to investigate and report concerns in this matter. The committee needs to be unbiased persons of moderate or lower income who can be truthful in their report. No real estate or other owners of property. However, it would be nice if those people would cooperate fully.
Maybe the Victoria citizens could get a true picture of rental rates and how they have risen in the past few years. Also, maybe we could get a true picture of some of the slumlord properties and how tenants are treated. How about putting people on that committee who work with the person or persons who are struggling with rent rates and rental property owners such as our nonprofits and faith-based organizations?
Do we have any investigative reporters who will tell the real story? I think so. They just need to be given the go ahead to find the full story and report that to the public.
We shall see.
