Open pro rodeo tour coming to Cuero
July 18, 2014 at 2:18 a.m.
For the sixth year, the Cuero Livestock Show Board will host the Lester Meier Open Pro Rodeo on July 25 and 26.
The rodeo will be at the Cuero Rodeo Arena in the Cuero Municipal Park. It will start nightly at 8 p.m.
The action will last about two hours as rodeo professionals from around the state and across the country compete for big jackpot money in rodeo staples like bucking broncos, barrel racing and the continual crowd favorite, bull riding, according to a news release from the livestock show board.
Pros from around the state make the rodeo a more enjoyable experience for everyone, according to the news release.
Drill teams will perform mounted precision drills.
Rodeo clown Leon Coffee will entertain the crowd between events.
The sport of rodeo is only as strong as its livestock, and the Lester Meier Rodeo Co. rough stock is known throughout the state as double tough. Each head of stock is handpicked for each performance by Meier, according to the news release.
The Lester Meier Rodeo Co. is celebrating its 40th anniversary in the rodeo business.
Tickets will be sold at the gate. Adult tickets are $10; kids aged 7 to 12, $5; and kids under 6 free.
