Man offers apology for negativity

Editor, the Advocate:
I, Alan Perkins, wish to offer my sincere apology to the former Victoria Memorial High School band directors, parents and, most especially, the students of the program back in 2006. I should have done this to clear the slate rather than allowing a negative person to influence me all those years ago in 2006.
I returned to Christ in 2011 and have been walking the path our Lord gave to us. Asking forgiveness is a commandment from Jesus, and I am asking sincere forgiveness from those who can. I was not a Christian man in 2006; I was a boastful, vile, self-centered man.
I was treated with a wonderful welcome by the Victoria community, and I want Victoria to know I am truly sorry.
I am under no false sense of forgiveness from those I allowed to be hurt. I can only tell you I should have listened more. Finally, I was not privy to the fact that David Edge had applied at the same time I was being recruited from California. If I had known that, I would have stayed in California.
God fixed that problem and put David back where he belongs.
May God continue to bless Victoria.
