Every Sunday morning, Cheryl, 41, and Carlos Cali, 42, pack their car with a home-cooked meal to share with Victoria's homeless.
Carlos Cali, known to the community as Cali, and Cheryl recognized there was no place for the homeless to eat Sunday, so they began Sermon in the Park, a weekly gathering for people to share a meal and the Gospel together.
"We really don't want to go and hand food out," Cheryl said. "We really want to sit down and have lunch just like we would have lunch with anybody else."
Sermon in the Park began on the first Sunday of January. Every Saturday, Cali and Cheryl cook a meal from food donations they receive from random individuals, House of Bread and food from their own farm. The group eats lunch together before Cali delivers his weekly sermon.
"I'm trying to instill into them this idea of trusting God to take care of you so that you can take all the resources that you have to benefit others to show other people God's love and God's light," Cali said.
