SMU grad earns honors, heads to law school

Chelsea Elizabeth King graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas on May 17 with the highest GPA in her graduating class. She received a bachelor's degree in foreign languages with a minor in law and legal reasoning.
She received the following scholarships, awards and honors: SMU Distinguished Scholar, Rotunda Award, Dedman College Millwee Scholar, Philip H. Solomon Award in Foreign Languages and Literatures: Japanese, SMU Academic Excellence Award - Community of Scholars, superior rating at state solo and ensemble competition for two years, Pottsboro Band Booster's Award, All-Area band qualifier and All-Region band member for three years.
This fall, she will attend William and Mary Law School in Virginia to pursue a degree in international law. She is the daughter of Reid and Kay King, of Longview, and the granddaughter of Eugene and Judy Bezdek and Renda King, all of El Campo, and the late Delcer King.
