Medical offices should respect patients' time

Yesterday, I had an experience in a local physician's office that is very common every day in Victoria. Around 3:15 p.m., I became aware there were six people in the room who all had the same appointment time as I.
At 3:30 p.m., I exercised my right to choose, and as a consumer, I left the office.
It concerns me that there were approximately 30 patients in the waiting room, with many complaining about how long they had been waiting. Office policy requires that patients give 24 hours notice for cancellation, or the office will charge for leaving that gap in their appointment schedule. Where is the same respect accorded to my schedule and time?
I left at 3:30 p.m. without seeing the doctor, and I will not return. As consumers, we must realize that we do have choices, and this kind of disrespect for our time by a professional is simply unacceptable. Only when we refuse to wait unreasonable lengths of time for professional appointments will those professionals begin to understand we have choices and will exercise them.
When their accounts receivable start to shrink, it will get their attention.
