Oceans For Emotions: We can do nothing without God

I remember that time when I was fishing off Miller Point on Magnolia Beach. I hooked on to a big ol' gafftop fish and a struggle started to see if the gafftop or I was going to have dominion.

Finally, after a fish fight that both of us could be proud of, I dragged it onto the beach, and we laid there until I recovered before my gafftop did. So I quickly strung and dragged it to my biggest ice chest, where I proudly held it in the air and said to God and my fellow fishermen, "Look what I caught today."

I could hear in my heart, God say, "Way to go, Elaine. But remember to be humble. You caught it, but don't forget I made it."

Dear Lord, I had a song in my heart all of the way home, "To God be the glory, great things He hath done ..."
