Shortly before graduating from the UHV in May, Marley Moehrig received an invitation to play softball on a select All-American team in Paris for two weeks.
The 2010 Memorial High School graduate will leave for France on Thursday with her mother and a family friend to play about five games until June 30.
Moehrig's team will be made up of college softball players from across the U.S., and will play against players from all over the world, she said.
This is Moehrig's first time out of the country, let alone Europe, she said.
"It's pretty exciting considering I haven't been out of the country or even in that direction," the catcher said. "I'm excited to see what's it like to be there."
Moehrig played all four years at UHV, setting single season records for triples, home runs, RBI and total bases as a junior in 2013.
In her senior season, she compiled a .419 batting average and led the Jaguars with five triples, 11 home runs, 62 RBI and 122 total bases. her slugging percentage was .787.
In 2014, Moehrig had 65 hits, 44 runs and 14 doubles. She was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's NAIA Southwest All-Region Team and was honored as the Association of Independent Institutions Conference Female Athlete of the Week twice.
Moehrig will remain at UHV while working toward a Masters degree in management.
