The Goliad County Sheriff's Office responded to a motorcycle wreck involving a deer Thursday morning on Farm-to-Market Road 622.

Sheriff Kirby Brumby said deputies arrived on the scene near the bridge at Perdido Creek between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.

With limited details about the incident, Brumby said the man was in his 40s but was unable to provide the man's name.

He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a hospital in Victoria and was in stable condition, Brumby said.

"The deer did not make it," Brumby said.

He cautioned motorists to be mindful of deer and the fawns that will soon be out.

"We've been in a drought, and in some places, there's more grass on the side of the road than in the pastures," Brumby said.
