Oceans For Emotions: A different kind of party

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

- Isaiah 40:31

Last night, some of us good friends got together once again and had a different kind of party. We are very used to having most of our parties down at the beach sharing fishing fun, and we are very competitive at that. But tonight was a whole different kind of party.

The thunder and lightning and rain had driven us indoors. We had all accidentally become friends because our paths crossed, and we purposely stayed friends because we made each other happy. So tonight, it was not unusual for us to get together, but this time, we had a homemade pie party and an old-fashioned game party.

We shared fun fishing stories and talked of sunsets and beach wood fires. Two of us had taught Candy when she was in seventh grade, and now she is all grown up and a teacher herself. She made the most delicious chocolate with peanut butter pie and a wonderful, picturesque lemon pie. She is now teaching us pie-making skills.

Candy played the guitar and sang beautiful songs, one being my favorite song of praise, "On Eagle's Wings." We all harmonized together in our singing Christian songs, and we made one more special memory.

I see that the saying "what comes around goes around" is true. Once I taught Candy, and now, she is teaching me.

Dear Lord, Thank you for our good friends and good times. I learned that you don't have to die to be lifted up on eagle's wings; that it can happen in this life. I have renewed my strength, and I shall mount up with wings as eagles and I shall run (but not very fast) and not be weary, and I shall walk and not faint.
