Nursery: Strong science STAAR scores, decrease in third-grade reading

Nursery school district preliminary State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness results show major increases in fifth-grade science and fourth-grade math, reading and writing.

A big decrease occurred in third-grade reading, which took a 17-point hit.

Fifth-grade science had the highest increase over last year's scores with a 21 percentage point increase in its passing rate.

Superintendent Suzanne Bell could not be reached for comment.
