The workshop was titled The Will to Lead: Creating Healthy School Culture. The workshop was for all Region 3 district and school administrators, campus staff and community members.
Anthony Muhammad, the presenter for this workshop, is a sought-after educational consultant. As a practitioner of nearly 20 years, Muhammad has served as a middle school teacher, assistant principal, middle school principal and high school principal.
Muhammad's tenure as a practitioner has earned him several awards, both as a teacher and a principal. His most notable accomplishment came as principal at Levey Middle School in Southfield, Mich., a National School of Excellence, where student proficiency on state assessments more than doubled in five years. He was named the Michigan Middle School Principal of the Year in 2005.
More than 20 districts from Region 3 were represented at this workshop. Participants gained insight into how to create and sustain healthy school cultures and how to overcome staff division to the benefit of students and the school organization as a whole.
