Editor, the Advocate:
I had the privilege to call Harvey Hilderbran my boss in the 82nd Legislature. I was his legislative aide handling policy research as it related to the Ways and Means Committee, which he chairs in the Texas House.
Harvey Hilderbran not only has relevant experience to succeed Susan Combs as our next Comptroller of Public Accounts, but he has the requisite experience required to serve the office effectively and efficiently for Texas taxpayers. As chairman of Ways and Means, he is tasked with dealing with all legislation relating to the state's tax code. The primary duty of the comptroller's office is to collect substantially all tax revenue owed to the State. But that's not all. Hilderbran proposes a Texas Taxpayer Bill of Rights and brings a 10-point "performance pledge" to the office if elected.
Harvey Hilderbran has a 100 percent pro-life voting record for 25 years in office. He has a 100 percent rating with the Texas Association of Business in the 2013 session. The Texas Oil and Gas Association named him 2013 Legislative Champion.
Hilderbran is not only the conservative choice for comptroller, he is the best choice for the hardworking taxpayers of our state.
