Longtime Refugio County Judge Rene Mascorro is ready to guard his seat against Republican candidate Robert "Bobby" Blaschke.

Blaschke took the nomination with 81 percent of the vote against Sylvia Barrera-Wiginton.

On Nov. 4, Blaschke will face Mascorro.

Blaschke said the win was not necessarily expected, and that one should never take their opponent lightly.

"I was excited about the encouragement throughout the campaign," he said.

Blaschke said the main push of his campaign was to be a county judge with an open door policy. He wants the community to know that he will be there for them, just like they were there for him.

He serves on the community development board, and would like to make a concerted effort for more economic growth.

"That was my resounding message in my campaign," he said.
