Primary voting in Victoria County dipped below the 2012 and 2010 primary turnouts Tuesday.
In complete but unofficial results, 8,092, or about 16 percent of the county's registered 50,600 voters, cast ballots in the Republican and Democratic Party primaries.
Republican Party Chairman Michael Cloud thanked all the candidates who ran.
"It takes a lot of effort, time and money to put yourself out there," he said.
He said the cold and wet weather may have impacted the race, especially compared to the 2012 presidential primaries, which had about a 21 percent turnout.
Democratic Party Chairman Cris Gonzalez was unavailable for comment Tuesday night.
