Two pedestrians – a man and a woman – were struck late Friday night by a vehicle and rushed to a hospital.

Information about the injuries was not available but Sgt. Adam Nieto of the Victoria Police Department described them as severe.

Police officers, who were called to the scene at 11:19 p.m. Friday, were still investigating the accident at Port Lavaca Drive and Laurent Street as of 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Officials temporarily closed a section of Port Lavaca Drive to investigate the scene.

The man and woman were walking north across Port Lavaca Drive when a white Isuzu Rodeo that was eastbound hit them, Nieto said.

The names and ages of the victims were not available.
