Q:How did winning change your life? A: I found out I wanted to major in English in college in the future. And it has led me to perform my role as the editor-in-chief of the Victoria West High School newspaper a lot better.
Q:How did winning affect the career you are in? A: In studying for the spelling bee, I looked to many different languages to better succeed in the spelling bee. I had to learn a lot of words. It led me to learn a lot more about the English language. I found out English is my passion.
Q:What advice would you give to this year's spellers? A: Study every free moment. Learn as much as you can about the words that you're learning.
Q:Are you still a good speller? A: Yes, everybody always comes to me when they have a word they need help with, and I can generally spell it.
Q:How far did you advance at the national spelling bee? A: Tied for 42nd out of more than 200 people.
What prize did you win? Merriam-Webster Dictionary, trophy and a couple other things.
