Members of the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Ann No. 369 enjoyed a Mexican dinner March 3 prior to their business meeting. Donna Maxey, membership chairman, and her committee hosted the event.
Kathy Ormsby, regent, opened the meeting, and Rev. George Henninger led the opening prayer. Reports were posted and approved.
Patti Schaar reported that Roberta Alvarez, Madeline Jurica, Paula Kainer and Evelyn Kalischko had assisted her in providing the funeral meal for the family of Kate DeLane. She also shared that the basket donated to St. Mary's Festival was a huge success and thanked those who assisted.
Education contest chairwoman, Jeraldine Jurica, announced that entries were submitted to state Feb. 28 and that winners would be announced at a later date.
LaVerne Klesel, bake sale chairman, reminded members of the upcoming bake sale March 16 in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus chicken barbecue. She also announced that the next bake sale will be May 18.
Under new business the Court elected JoAnn Lau, Dorothy Boehm, Joan Conaway, Faye Melnar and Gail Scheibelhut to serve on the nominating committee for officers for 2014-2016. Regent Ormsby asked for volunteers to serve on the financial review committee, and those volunteering include Sara Ratcliffe, JoAnn Shaffer, Dorothy Boehm, Sandra Genoway, LaVerne Klesel and JoAnn Lau.
The court voted to send a monetary donation to the State Habitat for Humanity Appeal, the Florence Crittenton Home in Montana, as well as purchase a convention ad.
Regent Ormsby named Donna Wesley as Daughter of the Second Quarter. Donna is a very active member of Our Lady of Victory, just ending her term as president of the Altar Society. Donna has served as bingo kitchen chairman for the Court for several years and has assisted in countless committees and projects. The honor is well deserved.
Members were reminded that Clergy/Religious Appreciation Banquet will be March 18. Jennifer Shellenbuger will be in charge of decorating, and Lillian Berger will be in charge of receiving the food. Both will need members to assist them.
Rev. Henninger led the closing prayer. The next meeting is scheduled for April 7.
