A 29-year-old Port Lavaca man died at the scene of a wreck about 5:50 p.m. Thursday night when his water truck ran off the road.
The man, whose name will not be released until next of kin is notified, was driving eastbound on Farm-to-Market Road 237, about 6 miles east of Yorktown, when he took a curve too fast, a Department of Public Safety spokesman said.
The truck then crashed through a barbed-wire fence after crossing into the north side of the road and struck a tree before flipping over.
The accident remains under investigation.
