A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to 40 years after a judge found he violated the conditions of his probation.
Ricardo Gonzales was placed on probation in 2006 for the offenses of aggravated sexual assault on a child and possession of child pornography.
In July 2013, a probation officer made a surprise visit and found two cellphones containing pornography, according to the news release.
Gonzales admitted to downloading six pornographic videos in violation of the terms of his probation.
"This case demonstrates that even several years after an offense, individuals on probation should follow the rules. While the defendant did not possess child pornography, he did possess images that were disturbing. Those images were indicative that the defendant was not rehabilitated and needed to be locked up," Assistant District Attorney Eli E. Garza said in the news release. "I am glad that the victim was able to get a sense of closure after she carried the burden of what this defendant subjected her to so many years ago."
