A Victoria man was indicted by a grand jury Thursday for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Jason Paul Tijerina, 29, was arrested in January on suspicion of indecency with a child. Tijerina exposed himself to a 3-year-old child, according to his arrest complaint.

The mother of the child walked in on Tijerina and told officers that her daughter was touching him inappropriately.

Tijerina said he was being wrongfully accused and that it was not the first time the child had touched him improperly.

Aggravated sexual assault of a child is a first-degree felony punishable by a minimum of 25 years if the child is under the age of 6.

Tijerina also was charged during his indictment with six counts of possession/promotion of child pornography and indecency with a child.

According to the court document, Tijerina possessed images of a minor child engaging in sexual conduct with an adult with intent to promote the visual material. Possession of child pornography is a second-degree felony, and indecency with a child is a third-degree felony.
