The Port of Victoria has a new executive director after an increase in business related to Eagle Ford Shale activity.
Paul "Skip" Kaup was the general manager of the Port of Corpus Christi's bulk terminal prior to joining the Port of Victoria earlier this month. Former executive director Jennifer Stastny will fill a new position, director of port operations.
"Skip will focus on managing new business development, and Jennifer will continue to be responsible for port operations. With the Eagle Ford Shale oil business and the numerous business inquiries, it became obvious to commissioners that we needed to expand our team," said port chairman Robby Burdge.
During Kaup's career he has focused on profit and loss management, budgeting, sales and operations.
"The Port of Victoria has now grown to a point where management, business, development and operations take more than one person to be responsible," Kaup said. "I look forward to the port's continued business expansion while at the same time maintaining our excellent record of operations."
Operations at the port continue to grow with recent record oil production moving across the port's docks and construction of new infrastructure.
