The Our Lady of Victory Altar Society meeting was March 11 in the OLV cafeteria. President Sandy Munoz called the meeting to order with 35 members present.
Dora Silva led the opening prayer. Minutes were read by Carolyn Koop, and the treasurer's report was given by Patti Smith. Janet Jones from the Perpetual Help Home in Victoria was present and explained the workings of this agency. She thanked all altar society members for their generosity in donating items for those in need. Second Vice President Donna Wesley announced that the altar society is accepting donations for Easter lilies to decorate the cathedral for Easter in memory or in honor of loved ones. Anyone wishing to donate may send donations to Donna Wesley at 2013 Mimosa Ave., Victoria, TX, 77901. Judy Bellanger reported on the quilting meetings being held each week and invited members to help make quilts for the OLV festival each fall.
Bellanger also reminded members of the Our Lady of Lourdes bunco party April 7. Member Joan Conaway presented a plan for beginning a Christmas project of making stockings filled with personal supplies for those serving in the military. Several volunteers agreed to head the project.
The altar society will participate in the Catholic Knowledge Bowl on Sunday at the Our Lady of Victory gym.
Donna Wesley thanked Betty Beam for bringing the refreshments for the meeting.
Munoz read the closing prayer and adjourned the meeting.
