A 7-year-old boy who died in an Edna wreck while on his way to a family wedding has been identified.

Jesse Tzul, of Houston, was ejected from the 1999 Lincoln Navigator his mother, Rudolfa Tzul-Barreno, was driving about 4:30 p.m. Friday. Tzul-Barreno was southbound on U.S. Highway 59 when the vehicle left the roadway and began to roll, said Edna Police Chief Clinton Wooldridge.

The vehicle, which was also carrying Tzul's siblings, 5-year-old Steven Tzul and 2-year-old Selena Tzul, came to rest near the Farm-to-Market Road 822 on-ramp.

Jesse was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Darren Stancik. Jesse's mother and his sister, Selena, were flown to a Houston hospital, and Steven was transported to a Victoria hospital and then flown to a San Antonio hospital, Wooldridge said.

Jesse's mother and his brother Steven's conditions have improved, Wooldridge said. Selena has been released and is in the care of her father.
