ROCKPORT - A natural gas production pipeline is being fixed after it ruptured Tuesday just west of Copano Bay.

Nobody was injured and the area affected - Holiday Beach and the Lamar area through Rockport - are still being supplied with gas, said Mike Donoho, public works director for the city or Rockport.

The pipeline, owned by Southern Cross, was shut down to let the leak burn out, he said. The pipeline was then looped around Copano Bay and attached to another pipeline to keep service, he said.

Southern Cross will investigate the cause of the leak and figure out how to repair the line in the coming weeks, Donoho said.

Questions about the event should be directed to the city of Rockport Service Center at 361-790-1160.
