Best Festival: Bootfest

Victoria city officials hope people will keep strapping on their boots the first week of October.

Bootfest, which was started three years ago, was voted by Victoria Advocate readers as the best festival. It has won before as well.

"It's an event that people have really embraced, and we thank them for that," said Joel Novosad, a marketing manager with the Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

"The reason people love it is No. 1, it's free. It also has a great family atmosphere."

This year, festival-goers will enjoy a music line up that celebrates Texas' heritage.

Officials hope to bring back the kids' corral, arts and crafts vendors as well as a car show.
