Best Furniture Store:
Social responsibility is what Ashley Furniture HomeStore owner Paige Streiff credits her store's success to.
The furniture store won best furniture store in the Advocate's Best of the Best competition.
Ashley's recently completed its first deliveries through the store's nationwide program, "A Hope to Dream," which seeks to bring beds to young children without a bed to sleep on.
"We were able to donate eight beds in our community to less fortunate kids that don't have a place to sleep," Streiff, 32, said. "This is about improving their health and learning abilities."
The donated mattresses are funded by a donation of $5 the company makes into an account every time a customer buys a mattress, Streiff said.
There are about 18 employees at the Ashley Furniture location in Victoria, Streiff said.
Streiff, whose parents owned Stimson Furniture before it became Ashley Furniture, said she's fortunate to have been born into the furniture business.
"It all starts when you're little," she said. It's a great industry to pass down to your children; we're very fortunate to have this."
