Best Musical Instrument Store: Collins Music Center

As the first winner in a new Best of the Best category, Randy Collins is the proud owner of the best musical instrument store in the Crossroads.

Collins Music Center, which first opened in 1957 in El Campo, is a full-service music store, Collins, the second-generation owner, said. They now have locations in Victoria, Bay City and Richmond.

While brass instruments, like marching band horns, make up most their sales, Collins said they also have a wide selection of guitars, amplifiers, keyboards and drum sets. They also provide rentals, repairs and lessons.

"We're not a huge corporation, so we like to be customer-friendly," Collins said.

Because they are not a big box retailer, he said they strive to stay with the latest equipment, ensuring their customers are happy and the business will be around for a long time.

"It's a fun business to be in because it's great to see people get excited about music," Collins said.
