Best Picnic Spot: Riverside Park

Step into Riverside Park, and you've escaped the hustle and bustle of the city.

"Look at the multiple deer, the river that runs through it, the birds - there is a lot that attracts people," said Victoria Parks and Recreation Director Colby VanGundy.

The city's park won best picnic spot in the Advocate's Best of the Best contest.

VanGundy said there are various tables, picnic benches and barbecue areas scattered throughout the park, making it a perfect place for a party, date or point of relaxation.

"It's a great compliment," he said about the parks continual placement in Best of the Best. "I think it goes back to how hard the parks and recreation staff works to keep the facility nice."
