Chick-fil-A at 6104 N. Navarro St. will close at the end of the month for four weeks so the store can be expanded and renovated.

Construction on the remodel started Saturday, said David Murphy, owner and operator of Chick-fil-A, and will continue for about eight weeks.

The building will undergo a complete remodel while also expanding its kitchen and building a double drive-thru.

"We're doing everything short of tearing the building down and rebuilding it," he said. "From front to back, inside and out, floor to ceiling, it'll be new."

For now, he said, customers will have to go through a re-routed drive-thru.

After the demolition and foundation is set for the expansion, the store will close May 30 for four weeks while the construction is completed on the building.

Employees from the Navarro store will move to the Victoria Mall location while renovation work is being done, Murphy said.

"It's such an exciting time, but it's a little bit scary," he said.
